Madonna threw an extravagant birthday bash to celebrate her son David Banda’s 18th birthday this past Sunday. David, wearing a stylish white tuxedo, marked the milestone surrounded by his loved ones, including his younger siblings, 16-year-old Mercy James, and 11-year-old twins Stella and Estere.
Notably absent from the event were Madonna’s two eldest children, daughter Lourdes Leon, 26, and son Rocco Ritchie, 23, who were busy attending Paris Fashion Week.
Taking to Instagram, Madonna shared a captivating recap video of the festivities, captioning it, “Happy 18th Birthday David Banda! Tribal Name -Senzangakhona- . Descendant of the Ngoni Tribe!”
In her heartfelt post, the singer not only celebrated David’s coming of age but also highlighted his heritage, connecting him to the Ngoni Tribe of Malawi.
Madonna adopted Banda from the Home of Hope orphanage in Lilongwe, Malawi, when he was three years old.
In her Instagram post, she reflected on the nearly 18 years that have passed since she first met David at the Home of Hope Orphanage.
She continued, “It is impossible to believe that almost 18 years have gone by since We met you in Mchinji at Home of Hope Orphanage!”. “Your name means ‘Speak the truth!’ I couldn’t think of a better name for an artist!”
“You are growing into a truly remarkable human being! We are all so proud or you,” she concluded. “You light up like the brightest star! ⭐️⭐️⭐️.”
Not too long ago, the ‘Material Girl’ songstress celebrated her own birthday on August 16th.
“It’s great to be Alive,” she wrote under a birthday video reel. “Amazing to Be able to put on my dancing shoes and Celebrate my Birthday! 🎉🎉🎉 Im So Grateful.”
In late June, she was hospitalized due to a serious bacterial infection, leading to a stay in the ICU. Her manager shared an update on Instagram, reassuring fans that while Madonna’s health was improving, she was still under medical care.
“Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected,” he shared.
