According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, a judge has granted Tanisha, the ex of the late Nipsey Hussle, extra visitation time with their daughter Emani Asghedom.
Under the new ruling, Tanisha will now have the opportunity to pick up her daughter from school twice a week and spend slightly over two hours with her.
This decision comes on the heels of a heated court hearing held last week between Tanisha and Nipsey’s brother and sister over guardianship of young Emani.
Since the tragic passing of Nipsey Hussle in 2019, Emani has been under the guardianship of Nipsey’s family. At the time, Tanisha had agreed to this arrangement, citing financial constraints as the primary reason for her compliance.
Her lawyer emphasized Tanisha’s motivations, stating, “Tanisha’s motivation for doing so was in recognition of her own financial limitations; her desire to maintain the standard of living and family contact the minor had experienced with the paternal family prior to her father’s death; and upon the verbal assurances that each of them would act in the best interests of Emani.”
However, Tanisha has since accused Nipsey’s family of reneging on their promises to prioritize Emani’s best interests.
In her petition, she stated, “I have continued to be an active part of Emani’s life. She spends the night with me often, I take her to school, and I continue to do the things a parent would do with their child. I am very unhappy that the guardians will not take my calls. They have blocked me on their cell phones. I have to go through a third party or Emani to communicate with the guardians.”
Tanisha further added, “There are no circumstances or events in my life that would disqualify me from regaining my exclusive role as Emani’s parent. There is no longer any need for guardianship. Emani routinely asks me when are she and I going to be able to live together. She longs to be with me as her mother. I am begging the court to terminate the existing guardianship.”
In response, Nipsey’s family argued that Tanisha was not a suitable parent and insisted that the guardianship should remain intact. They presented sealed court filings that detailed Tanisha’s history of alcohol-related issues and cited an incident where she allegedly hit a third party in front of Emani.
Additionally, Nipsey’s family asserted their claim to custody of Emani and control over her inheritance. As the sole beneficiaries of Nipsey’s estate, Emani and Nipsey’s son Kross, born to him and Lauren London, are expected to inherit substantial assets.
The temporary arrangement, as decided by the court, will remain in effect until a final decision is reached in this emotionally charged and complex case. The legal battle continues to unfold, and the fate of Emani’s guardianship remains uncertain.
