Monica and Shannon Brown’s daughter, Laiyah Brown, is celebrating her 10th birthday in style. On Sunday, Monica couldn’t contain her excitement and shared a heartwarming photoshoot featuring the mother-daughter duo, both elegantly dressed in black attire.
In the Instagram post, the singer expressed her deep affection for Laiyah, writing, “”HAPPY BIRTHDAY @laiyah. One never truly knows LOVE, until they’ve experienced YOU….. You’ve given me a decade of Joy, Compassion , Understanding & Love without Conditions. May you always see YOU as special & deserving as I do……HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY LAIYAH.”
Laiyah is Monica Denise’s beloved daughter with former basketball player Shannon Brown. Their journey as parents began on September 3, 2013, when they welcomed their precious bundle of joy into the world. Although the pair decided to go their separate ways and officially divorced in 2019 after eight years of marriage, Monica remains committed to maintaining a harmonious co-parenting relationship.
Monica openly shares her perspective on their post-divorce relationship, stating, “I’m not ashamed of what’s happening in my life,” Monica said. “I just think because I still have such a love and respect, even for Shannon, that there’s certain things that are just not up for discussion. We don’t have to be together to respect one another. We don’t have to be together to uplift one another and make sure that my kids always see that mom is looking forward to you having a relationship [with dad] forever and ever. Anything I can do to really assist in making sure it continues to be everything that it’s always been, that’s what I’m going to do.”
In additiion to Laiyah, Monica also has two sons, 18-year-old Rodney (aka “Rocko“) and Romelo, 15, from a previous relationship.
