Fast & Furious star Tyrese Gibson has taken to the mic to air his grievances against ex-wife Samantha Lee. The actor/singer dropped a new track earlier this week calling out Lee over child support.
In his new song, “Love Transaction,” Gibson addresses the issue of his child support and how Lee was “cold-hearted”. Gibson poses the question in his song to Lee asking her, “Was this love or a transaction?
In a social media post back in June of this year, the Baby Boy alum asked the same question to his followers posting, “Is this love? Or just a transaction? Married and divorced couples…. Or people who have just been in relationships and never got married…. Todays love feel more like a transaction than love itself… Who agrees? And if you don’t agree please explain why?”
But, before continue forward, we must go back to August of last year when the court ordered Gibson to pay child support in the sum of $10,000 per month. Gibson refused to pay, stating that $10,000/month was an excessive amount as Lee made good money herself.
Fast-forward to April of this year when Gibson was found in contempt of court for not paying what he had been ordered. The Fulton County judge ordered him not to only pay his back child support, but his ex-wife’s legal fees that originally totaled $636,000.
Yet, the actual figures that Gibson ended up being ordered to pay were $237,944 in back child support for he and Lee’s four-year-old daughter, Soraya Lee Gibson. Additionally, the actor had to pay $399,000 for Samantha’s attorney fees, and a $17,000 bill for the special master appointed by the judge to handle minor disputes during the case.
Gibson voiced that he felt as if the judgement was unfair and that the judge was biased.
And, here we are today, with “Love Transaction.” With this new song, it seems as if Gibson has moved the judgement to the court of public opinion.
The 44-year-old is also father to 16-year-old Shayla. Gibson pays an additional $10,000 per month to Shayla’s mother in child support.
Gibson and Lee’s split has yet to be finalized. Their case is still pending.
