Co-parenting goals! NBA star Derrick Rose and his ex-girlfriend Mieka Reese recently came together to celebrate a remarkable milestone—their son’s first day of fifth grade. And what’s even more heartwarming is how they made it a true family affair!
Mieka Reese took to Instagram to share the joyous occasion with a series of photos that showed that Derrick’s fiancée Alaina Anderson and their two children, Layla Malibu and London Marley, joined in on the excitement.
“Official 5th grader!!” Mieka captioned the snaps.
Rose and Alaina Anderson have been together since 2016, their bond culminated in an engagement in October 2021. The proposal was a grand gesture that unfolded during a romantic dinner at Madison Square Garden.
“I didn’t know how you were going to perceive me,” he wrote in a post to his fiancee. “But this entire time I was hoping that you would believe me. Believe the words that I will have your back and love u forever. When I FIRST saw you I told Ryan that we were gon be together. It took both of us a while to let down our guards. That’s only becuz both of our hearts were scarred. We are two peas in a pod becuz we are truly MISUNDERSTOOD. We got our heart and swag from this place called ENGLEWOOD. I will always love you becuz you go above and beyond. We built a beautiful family and an unbreakable bond. Thank you Queen.”
The couple’s journey as parents started with the birth of Layla Malibu Rose on March 4, 2018. A year later, they welcomed their son, London Marley, on May 26, 2019.
Adding to the mix is Derrick Rose Jr., affectionately known as PJ, whom Derrick shares with his ex, Mieka Reese.
Last year, Derrick Rose and his blended family put up a united front and spent the Christmas holiday together. Alaina Anderson Rose and Mieka Reese even wore matching two-piece Barbie pajama sets while spending quality time with Rose and their kids. Talk about co-parenting goals!
