“At this moment, it’s important to teach our children that sometimes you need to sacrifice to make a change and stand up for what’s right,” Paula exclaimed in her social media post, which was shared with her fans on Friday (Aug. 4).

“Corporate greed is immoral and not something we should accept passively. That is why unions are so crucial to maintaining humanity in society.”

Members of SAG-AFTRA joined the members of The Writers Guild of America in striking last month. The Writers Guild picketed in May due to low wages. Members of SAG-AFTRA joined months later for the same reason.

Actors who are considered A-list stars have given support to artists who cannot afford to be off work during the strike by contributing to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. To date, the foundation has raised over $15 million to serve as emergency funds for actors in need.

“In this strike action, I am lucky to be able to support those who will struggle in a long action to sustain against Goliath,” Meryl Streep shared in a statement after donating upwards of $1 million to the fund. “We will stand strong together against these powerful corporations who are bent on taking the humanity, the human dignity, even the human out of our profession,” the actress declared.

George Clooney also donated to the fund. “We stand ready to get back to the table and make a fair deal with the AMPTP,” the veteran actor shared. “Until then, I’m proud to be able to support the SAG-AFTRA Foundation and my fellow actors who may be struggling in this historic moment,” Clooney said.

Discussions regarding fair wages are still in the works. For now, Paula and Julian remain committed to the cause.

“Sending love, light, and courage into this strike,” wrote a supporting fan last week. Another Instagram follower said, “It is important to be compassionate and supportive with those people in a state of vulnerability and realize that we all need each other.”
