Today marks the eighth anniversary of the tragic passing of Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of singer Bobby Brown and the late legendary Whitney Houston.
Bobby Brown, joined by his wife Alicia Etheredge and their children, took to Instagram to pay tribute to his daughter’s memory, fondly recalling the funny faces she used to make.
“Today is a special remembrance day for my daughter Bobbi Kristina. I think about her often, but when i think about her i think about all the funny faces she used to make… We just want to thank you from my family to yours.”
In the video, Bobby’s eldest son, Landon Brown, also shared a heartfelt message in remembrance of his sister. “Today is the day that my sister left this world several years ago. But this is also the day i became a father. So Happy Birthday to my daughter.”
Bobbi Kristina tragically passed away on July 26, 2015, at the age of 22. She was found unconscious in a bathtub at her Alpharetta, Georgia, residence by her boyfriend, Nick Gordon. After spending six months in a coma, she eventually succumbed. The circumstances of her passing were eerily similar to her mother’s untimely death in 2012.
The medical examiner attributed Bobbi Kristina Brown’s passing to “immersion associated with drug intoxication,” though the specific manner of death remained inconclusive. Subsequently, the Brown family pursued legal action against Gordon, alleging assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. They claimed that Gordon had supplied her with a mix of harmful substances that resulted in her eventual demise.
In 2016, the court found Nick Gordon legally accountable for Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death and ordered him to pay her estate a sum of $36 million.
Following the death of his daughter in 2015, Bobby Brown founded the Bobbi Kristina Serenity House in her honor. The nonprofit organization offers resources and education about domestic violence through its website, bobbikristinaserenityhouse.org.
“Our family lives with the pain everyday of losing my beautiful daughter, Bobbi Kristina, to domestic violence,” Bobby Brown previously said in a statement. “She loved Atlanta and in her memory we are proud to announce the formation of the Bobbi Kristina Serenity House. Our initial goal is to help educate women and men of all ages, by creating a 24-hour crisis intervention line and emergency transitional shelter.”
