Eva Marcille and Michael Sterling celebrated their son Michael T. Sterling II’s fifth birthday earlier this week. The celebrity parents took to Instagram on Thursday (Apr. 13) to commemorate their son’s special day.
“Happy Birthday,” Michael Sterling wrote to his son. “Hard to believe that this young man is turning 5,” the doting dad told his social media followers. “Michael T. Sterling, II – second of his name, dribbler of basketballs, prince of assists, disturber of sleeps, the snack bandit, lord of curiosity, provider of joy, giver of compliments, the first son of the union. Happy Birthday, Mikey.”
Eva Marcille shared her estranged husband’s birthday message to their son on her Instagram page. The post received thousands of likes from the Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) alum’s supporters.
“So adorable,” one fan shared in the comments section of Eva’s post. “When Mike said ‘first son of the union’ my heart melted,” another social media follower said. “I know marriage is tough but from the outside at least, you look like you have one that’s worth preserving,” the supporter continued. “Praying for total restoration! Happy birthday Mikey.”
News of Eva Marcille filing to divorce Michael Sterling spread last month. “This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, but sometimes life takes your journey in a direction you were not expecting,” Eva told PEOPLE in a statement.
“Our children remain our biggest priority and the eight and half years we have spent together will always be cherished,” Marcille continued. “We ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”
Eva and Michael wed in 2018. The RHOA star went through court proceedings to give her daughter the last name of her husband in 2020.
“Marley was born in 2014 and I gave her her biological father’s name,” Eva shared during an interview on the Rickey Smiey Morning Show. “After two months, we became estranged and I raised her as a single mom,” the model said.
“And then, the good Lord saw fit for me to meet an amazing man, Michael Sterling, who has become my husband and the father of my later children,” Eva revealed. “Long story short, we all have the name Sterling, and Marley is the only one with her biological father’s name and I saw it necessary and Mike saw it necessary to change her name.”
Eva Marcille and Michael Sterling have three children – Marley Rae, Michael II, and Maverick – in all. The RHOA alum is seeking joint custody of the kids and “equitable division” of assets she accumulated with her husband during the marriage.
