Mental health is an important issue for children, especially for teenagers, around the globe. According to a recent survey for the Center for Disease Control (CDC), 44% of high schoolers are persistently feeling sad or hopelessness. Naomi Osaka hopes to step in and help with her new mental health series geared towards children.

“I’ve teamed up with @modernhealthco to create guided meditations for kids,” the 25-year-old mom-to-be posted on Instagram. “I’m excited for my child and all children to have access to meditations to help them build healthy habits early. I’m glad that I’m able to help make something like this accessible to kids all over. Link in bio to listen and learn with the kids in your life.”
The tennis pro continued speaking in more detail to People Magazine about her latest project.
“As I’ve gotten older, I have really relied more on meditation to help manage my feelings. I wish that I had utilized it more as a kid which is why I’m so excited to have children’s meditations available now kids of all ages.”

Osaka herself has been vocal about her struggles with mental health. Osaka sought help for herself and in turn, she was also helping others.
“It’s always really heartwarming when people tell me that I have helped them with their own struggles. I remember being in a grocery store one time and someone stopped me to tell me how much I meant to them as they were dealing with their own mental health struggles,” she shared with People. “At the time, I was doing it for myself but I realized that my decision to help myself was also helping many others.”

In that vein of helping others, Osaka calls her project “cool,” as she is able to expand on helping as she’s created resources geared towards some of the the world’s most vulnerable…children.
“I love that I am able to help create resources for kids that weren’t available or common when I was a kid. I hope that kids are able to learn how to manage their feelings and emotions at an early age so that they can continue to use these tools later in life.”
