Angela Bassett  made her big night at the Oscars a family affair, arriving with her husband and two children by her side. The entire family looked stunning, with Bassett and her daughter Bronwyn Golden dressed in matching purple gowns, and her son Slater Josiah and husband Courtney B. Vance looking sharp in all-black looks.

Bassett, who was nominated for an Academy Award, walked the champagne carpet in a Moschino gown, which she accessorized with a small purse.

The actress shared that the tiny purse made it difficult to bring much with her, but she managed to fit in some Halls cough drops and a little fragrance. 

“I have some Halls cough drops… a little fragrance. You know these bags are so small you can’t bring much. And my daughter’s holding my phone,” she shared while on the carpet.

Bassett’s husband, Courtney B. Vance, spoke to PEOPLE about his wife’s Academy Award nomination and expressed his excitement at the possibility of her winning the coveted award. He stated that Bassett was “overdue” for an Academy Award and that he can’t wait for the moment when they call out her name.

“It’s time, and I can’t wait for the moment when they call the first syllable of the name because that’s all any of us ever listened for,” Vance said.

The actor continued, “If you’ve been to these events, you know that the only thing you listen for is [making A phonetic sounds], or if it’s me [making K phonetic sounds]. If they don’t do [making A phonetic sounds], I’m out. You know. So I’m excited. It’s been 29 years, she’s overdue and I think everybody recognizes that. So I’m excited.”

The couple, who have been married for 25 years, attended the Oscars to celebrate the achievements of the film industry. The Oscars are one of the biggest nights in Hollywood, and Bassett and her family made sure to make it a family affair.

Despite her her portrayal of Ramonda in movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Angela Bassett did not receive the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
