Storm Reid is set to star in the new HBO Max series, The Last of Us, which will start streaming on January 15th.
The nine-episode original series, is based on the critically acclaimed video game by the same name.
So, just what can Storms fans expect from her latest project? Well, according to Deadline, here is a brief synopsis of the action.
The story takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal journey as they both must traverse the US and depend on each other for survival.
In addition to Reid, who will portray the role of Riley, the new series will also star: Pedro Pascal is Joel, Bella Ramsey is Ellie, Gabriel Luna is Tommy, Anna Torv is Tess, Nico Parker is Sarah, Murray Bartlett is Frank, and Nick Offerman is Bill.
Additional cast members of the series include: Melanie Lynskey as Kathleen, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, Graham Greene as Marlon, and Elaine Miles as Florence. Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker.
The Last of Us series is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. The series is a co-production project with Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog. The project is additionally executive produced by Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Rose Lam.
The video game, The Last of Us, is developed by Naughty Dog exclusively for the PlayStation platforms.
The Last of Us isn’t the only project that Reid has in the works to kick-off the year.
Missing will hit theaters at the end of the month on January 20th. Reid will star alongside Nia Long for this heart-pounding thriller.
