It is not Christmas until Mariah Carey brings Christmas cheer to everyone through song. And this year is not different as the “Queen of Christmas” shared a special duet with her daughter during her 2022 Christmas concert, Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas To All!.
The “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” singer took the stage on December 18th at Madison Square Garden to share her infectious Christmas spirit in her 2022 concert, Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas To All!
Joining the icon on stage for a duet, was none other than 11-year-old daughter Monroe, whom she shares with Wild ‘N Out host Nick Cannon. The pair sung a sweet rendition of “Away In A Manger.” Additionally, Monroe’s twin brother, Moroccan joined his mother and sister at the concert to also join in the holiday fun.
In her grandiose opening, the 52-year-old singer descended from the top of a floating snowflake throne to a rendition of well-known tune from The Nutcracker, “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.” Then, her song quickly morphed into “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” with a gospel choir’s inspirational backup vocals.
Carey said to the audience, “A lot of us really need hope around the holidays,” and that is just what brought to the audience through song.
In addition to her twins, Monroe and Moroccan, a slew of other famous faces joined Carey to ring in the special holiday. Those who share the stage with Carey include: Drew Barrymore, Jermaine Dupri, Billy Porter, Slick Rick and the Radio City Rockettes, among others.
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” reached a historic milestone this year and everyone was on hand to help Carey celebrate. The popular song has returned to the Billboard Hot 100 at the number one spot for the fourth consecutive year in a row! Billy Porter presented Carey with a plaque to commemorate the moment.
“No one flies like a bird like you, Ms. Mariah Carey,” Porter said, holding the plaque. And of course, the audience went wild!
Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas To All! will air on CBS and will stream on Paramount+ Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. Make sure to tune-in because you definitely cannot miss a Carey Christmas!
