Black Adam has broken box office records and is set to become one of DC fans’ favorite franchises. We all know that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has pretty much never really been a slight man; however, thanks to movie magic, in a few scenes in the movie, Johnson appears slimmed down from his muscular wrestler frame. Co-star Jalon Christian sat down for an exclusive interview with Looper and talked about how Johnson slimmed-down in Black Adam scenes.
If you have seen the movie, you will note that in Christian and Johnson’s first scene together, the ex-WWE superstar is quite slight in build. Well, Christian took us behind the movie magic and spilled the beans that he was in actuality filming with another actor.
“I filmed most of my scenes with another actor, whose name is Benjamin [Patterson], and they would put white dots on his face to calibrate it,” Christian told Looper. “They would have him do the scene with me, then have The Rock do it so that they could calibrate The Rock’s face onto his body before The Rock becomes Black Adam.”
In addition to being fascinated with the Black Adam body transformation process, Christian told the entertainment news outlet that he learned a lot from The Rock’s process on set as a actor.
“[At] certain times we would joke around and talk to each other, but there were also times where he was very into the character and in the moment,” Christian said in his interview. “Some actors are very method and love to be in their characters at all times; some actors work a different way. To be able to observe his process definitely helped me be able to work on my performance.”
Black Adam is based on the DC comic book series, “Black Adam.” The comic book was brought to life by Warner Bros and New Line. If you missed Black Adam in theaters, you can now own your own digital copy!
