Savannah James and her daughter, Zhuri James, were two of several to attend the premiere of Disney’s Strange World on Tuesday (Nov. 15). The screening occurred at El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California.
Zhuri was definitely ready for her moment in the spotlight. The youngster smiled as photographers took pictures of her on the red carpet. Savannah let her daughter take a few photos by herself. The celebrity mom also joined her little one in the spotlight for adorable shots.
Strange World is meant to be a Coming of Age story. The film centers around the Clades family whose members have exceptional abilities. Although every person in the clan is powerful on their own, the Clades family will have to work together to complete their most crucial mission yet.
The visuals of Strange World are nothing short of fantastic. Director Don Hall recently delved into what inspired such a detailed setting.
“I re-read a lot of Jules Verne and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a lot of those early adventure novels,” Hall shared. “We watched Raiders of the Lost Ark, one of my favorite movies of all time. King Kong, is a really good example of this particular genre where a group of explorers find a hidden world with creatures and monsters. It was a joyous bit of research going back into that,” the director explained.
There are many adventures in Strange World, but family is at the center of everything in the film. “For me it’s a celebration of family,” Director Qui Nguyen shared during a recent interview. “On the surface, it is a great father-son story,” he added.
“In a weird way it should have come out on Father’s Day,” Nguyen told the press. “You can arguably go, ‘This is the film that I can’t wait to watch with my kid and watch with my dad.’ But it’s also just about a family.”
Strange World comes to theaters on November 23, 2022.
