Lil Wayne’s oldest daughter, Reginae Carter, reflected on her father’s bash after the festivities convened. “Last night , we celebrated the šŸ birthday,” the young adult told her Instagram fans on Monday (Sep. 26). “More Life, more everything,” Reginae wrote to her father. “Happy Early Birthday, Dad,” the young adult shared.

Lil Wayne officially turns 40-years-old today. The rapper, born in New Orleans, has released 14 studio albums to date along with 29 mixtapes. Lil Wayne recently shared his experience with suicidal thoughts in an attempt to bring awareness to mental health.

“I picked up the phone, [and] I called the police,” Wayne shared. “Yes I knew where she put her gun and it was in her bedroom,” the rapper said in reference to his mother’s gun, which he planned to use to commit suicide. Lil Wayne was 12-years-old at the time. “And so I went in her bedroom, grabbed the gun. I already made the phone call, looked in the mirror,” he shared.

“Iā€™m looking in the mirror, so you could look through the mirror and the television was behind me,” the rapper told the press. “So I was watching the video through the mirror. ‘One More Chance’ was on. And Biggie was already gone or something. So I was looking, I was like, ā€˜You know what?ā€™ Start thinking I had to get myself mad and noticed that I didnā€™t have to. thatā€™s what scared me. How I knew I had a mental health problem was when I pulled the trigger.”

Thankfully, Lil Wayne was not successful with his attempt to commit suicide. He now advocates for intervention. “[Iā€™m] hoping I can help anyone else out there whoā€™s dealing with mental health problems by … being vulnerable,” the rapper shared during a recent interview with Emmanuel Acho. “To me, I look at it by being brave and stepping up.”

Lil Wayne has four kids – Reginae, Dwayne III, Neal, and Kameron – in all.
