Teddy Riley has not seen his son, Mykal, in over three years. The producer recently sat down with Jada Pinkett-Smith and Adrienne Banfield Norris of Red Table Talk (RTT) to touch on the topic of parental alienation of which he believes he is a victim.

“I’m just hearing from so many different people that told me that his mom’s goal is to keep him away from me,” Riley shared with Jada and Adrienne when discussing his estranged relationship with his son. “It really hurts because here’s someone I wanted to marry, I gave everything to,” Teddy revealed.
Mykal Riley was born nine years ago. Teddy and the mother of his son were in a relationship at the time that appeared promising. “I’m the first to hold my son,” Riley shared on RTT. “We had a home birth,” he added. “We had this bond that was just something.”
Teddy Riley has eight children in addition to Mykal. The celebrity father has a special relationship with all of his kids. “But Mykal was like, wow,” he shared with Jada Pinkett-Smith and Adrienne Banfield Norris. “Now he’s 9,” the producer revealed. “My father, I didn’t meet him until I was 9, my biological father,” Riley shared. “I said to myself that I never want to be like my dad. I have to change the narrative and be in all my kids’ lives.”

Teddy has not been afforded the opportunity to play an active role in Mykal’s life for the past three years. He took to Instagram on his son’s birthday to give a tribute that was both touching and sad. “This is probably one of the saddest days of my life. It’s my baby son’s birthday today and I haven’t seen him in three years plus,” the Instagram post read. Teddy expressed frustration in having “to deal with the corrupted government ATL system” to see his son. The producer was hopeful, however, that things would change in the near future.
“My day will come to be with my son for the rest of his life and mine,” Riley told his supporters. “I’m being patient for that day, and when it comes I shall celebrate because he deserves to live a great life as a Prince of a King!”
