Tika Sumpter and Nicholas James tied the matrimonial knot in March. The couple had a beautiful wedding ceremony in Cabo San Lucas with their daughter, Ella-Loren James, by their side. Now, see the pictures from Nicholas and Tika’s breath-taking wedding!
“It was so beautiful, and it wasn’t too far away from California, so it was an easy trip,” Tika said to Brides Magazine of her and Nicholas’ choice of location for their wedding. The celebrity couple visited Cabo San Lucas in 2016 and fell in love with the city in Mexico. Tika and Nicholas sought the help of wedding planner Ximena Perez of Amy Abbott Events to bring their vision to life.
The celebration was a weekend filled with festivities at Chileno Bay Resorts. Jana Williams of Jana Williams Photography captured every special moment between the celebrity parents and their daughter. Tika is quite accustomed to trying out different elegant gowns before finding the right fit because of her career as an actress in Hollywood. Finding the perfect wedding dress, however, was a different experience.
“I’m usually anxious before a red carpet. There’s a different level of pressure to that,” Tika shared of her mindset when planning to make a good showing in front of photographers at an event. “This didn’t feel like pressure,” Sumpter revealed. “This day was one of the most special days of my life besides having my daughter, and I just want to feel and look special. When that feeling came, I knew it was it. A red carpet is for work, right? This is for our lives.”
Tika Sumpter and Nicholas James have been a couple for years. They welcomed their daughter in 2016, which was the same year Nicholas proposed to Tika. The actors have been a strong union ever since with their wedding day setting things in stone.
“Michael Ealy said to me after, ‘Your daughter got to see what love looks like through you guys coming together,'” Tika shared after marrying Nicholas. “It was beautiful to have my daughter there and knowing she’ll remember that forever,” the celebrity mom said.
