Chrissy Teigen is celebrating one year sober. The cookbook author took to Instagram on Monday (Jul. 18) to commemorate the milestone with her family.
Chrissy uploaded video footage of her and her kids, Miles and Luna, touring the world in honor of her accomplishment. “Not a drop of alcohol in 365 days,” Teigen told her social media fans. “I miss feeling loopy and carefree sometimes, but to be honest toward the end, it didn’t give that fun feeling anymore anyhow,” the celebrity mom admitted.
Chrissy Teigen announced her commitment to sobriety last year. She gave fans an update on her journey in January. “I have no idea what I’m doing honestly, but I do know a few things: I now have endless energy, way less anxiety (no more benzos!) and I am *happier* and more present than ever,” Teigen shared of her journey at the time.
The cookbook author delved into her reason for giving up alcohol in her update on Monday. “I drank to end crazy anxiety that later mostly went away when I – get this – quit drinking,” the celebrity mom exclaimed.
“I feel really good,” Chrissy continued. “Sometimes I get really frustrated looking back on days I should remember way better than I do because of alcohol. Like when I drank cafe patron and fell asleep while an Outback Steakhouse chef taught me (my friends) how to make a blooming onion at my house. I wish I was awake for that,” Teigen shared.
“Wish I remembered really any awards show,” the celebrity mom mused. “There are pictures from huge moments in life where my eyes just look … gone. Some are from real work shoots, [and] some just beach days with the family,” Teigen reminisced. “While I honestly STILL don’t know if I’ll never have a drink again, I do know I never want to be that way again,” Chrissy declared.
“And for now, none is best,” she added. “I’ll let the bad dreams come up and try to sort them out in therapy, without booze.”
