Brandy and her daughter, Sy’Rai Smith, were two of many to attend the 2022 BET Awards at Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California, this past Sunday (Jun. 26). The mother-daughter duo offered a fierce front on the red carpet and beyond.
Brandy took to Instagram to describe the experience as a “magical night.” The legendary recording artist took to stage in a surprise performance with Jack Harlow who previously made the press after failing to know the sibling dynamic between Brandy and her younger brother, Ray J.
“I didn’t know they were siblings,” Jack, who is 24-years-old said during a recent interview on HOT 97’s Ebro In The Morning. “Brandy and Ray J are siblings,” Harlow further questioned. “Nobody’s ever told me that in my life,” the recording artist explained. “Nobody’s ever told me that,” Jack reiterated.
Brandy released a playful diss track in which she introduced herself as a “living legend” and “breathtaking.” Brandy rapped the lyrics to the song in her alter ego Bran’ Nu’s spirit. “This black excellence at its finest,” the recording artist declared in her song. “Don’t call me, ‘Brandy,’ no more, call me, ‘Your highness,'” Bran ‘Nu added. “Built up, filling my brother Ray J glasses.”
Jack Harlow and Brandy had plenty of time to bond during the BET Awards on Sunday night. The ‘Almost Doesn’t Count’ singer took to Instagram after her smash-hit performance with the young recording artist.
“This was a magical night,” Brandy wrote on Instagram after the event. “I felt so loved and appreciated by @jackharlow and his wonderful team,” the veteran recording artist said. “I haven’t been to the BET awards in a VERY [time] long and it’s my dream to earn one,” Brandy said regarding her aspirations for the future.
“Thank y’all for embracing me like family,” the singer continued. “And the crowd for making me feel #firstclass. Jack, me and you 4 life.”
