Saturday (Apr. 9) marked the one-year anniversary of the death of DMX. The late rapper’s family had a prayer and release party in his honor at Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia.
The celebration included prayers and a balloon release at DMX’s gravesite. The event ended on School Street where the late rapper grew up. DMX’s fiancee, Desiree Lindstrom, joined their son and the recording artist’s other children in celebrating the life and legacy of the ‘What’s My Name’ artist.
“Days have turned into weeks which have turned into twelve months without you,” Desiree wrote to her late fiance on the anniversary of his death. “But tell me why it feels just like yesterday and you were here with us,” Lindstrom asked. “So in love to think … it was going to be a lifetime of us,” she exclaimed.
“I tell everyone that my love for you is eternal,” Desiree wrote to DMX on Instagram. “I tell everyone that Exodus is the gift you left me,” Lindstrom added. “I tell everyone that we shine for Earl. Thank you everybody for showing nothing but love this past year. Let’s celebrate the man, the artist, the legend … DMX.”
DMX died on April 9, 2021, after suffering a massive heart attack. “Today, April 9th, 2022, marks a whole Year Earl,” DMX’s ex, Yadira Borrego, shared on Saturday. “I pray your body, your soul, and your spirit is with God,” Borrego shared. “I also pray you’re getting your rest,” she continued.
“We love and miss you so much down here Earl But I know God has an angel and you’re definitely covered,” Borrego said. “Heaven couldn’t wait! Thank You for the greatest years and the greater gift you ever gave me, our children Beanz and Manny. But most of all Thank YOU for the unconditional love and protection you gave them. They will always carry that with them 4Life. Continue to watch over All of Us! Today and Forever We celebrate You. Till we meet again, One Love .”
DMX reportedly fathered fifteen kids during his lifetime. The rapper’s daughter, Sonovah Hillman, Jr., took to Instagram last Wednesday (Apr. 6) to pay tribute to her dad with a throwback video clip. DMX enjoyed nature in the footage featured on Sonovah’s page.
“He’s with you baby girl,” one social media follower declared after seeing the video clip shared by DMX’s daughter. “Just know he’s holding your hand every day,” the fan continued. “You and your family stay blessed.”
