Congratulations are in order for Marcus Samuelsson and his beautiful wife, model and entrepreneur Maya Haile Samuelsson. The couple recently welcomed a new addition to the family, their second child, an adorable baby girl, Grace Ethiopia. 

The Top Chef Family Style judge posted on Instagram, “She’s here! Welcome to the world, Grace Ethiopia. Mommy @mayahaile, big brother Zion and Daddy are so excited you’ve joined our family.”

And of course, the proud mother, had to also follow suit, posting her own joyous announcement on Instagram.

“Our Grace Ethiopia is here we are Grateful @marcuscooks.”

The celebrity chef, who is also dad to an adult daughter, Zoe and six-year-old son Zion Mandela, revealed their exciting pregnancy news last month.

“Maya and I are very excited to share that Zion is going to be a big brother!” Samuelsson captioned a picture of Maya, their son and himself. In the Instagram photo, the trio were all wearing matching white tops.

Samuelsson, who is a native of Ethiopia, went on in the post, explaining the truly important and beautiful meaning of baby Grace Ethiopia’s special name.

“We will be welcoming a baby girl in the new year and naming her Grace Ethiopia. Our fellow Ethiopians have experienced such a difficult year, so it means a lot to us to honor and celebrate our country of origin through the birth of our daughter. We are sending our joy and light to you and our community.”

If you are unaware, according to a report from CNN, since November of 2020, the African country of Ethiopia has been embroiled in a civil war. The civil war has left thousands dead, fueled famine in the region, and has displaced millions of people from their homes. Ethiopia is the second most populous country in Africa.

Congratulations to Marcus, Maya, Zion, and baby Grace Ethiopia. You all are truly a beautiful family and we cannot wait to see what your new journey has in store!
