Tichina Arnold’s daughter, Alijah Kai, covered a rendition of Tevin Campbell’s 1993 hit single ‘Can We Talk’ during Stevie Mackey’s Taco Tuesday session last month. The teen absolutely mastered the song with her vocal abilities and personality.
“I have been seeing this young lady here and there on her mom’s page for a while,” one YouTube fan shared after watching Alijah’s segment online. “I’ve been looking forward to her debut,” the supporter said.
Another social media follower wrote, “She did a good job. She has some huge shoes to fill because her mother is a gd beast behind the mic. Tichina has some of the best vocals I’ve ever heard in my almost 50 years on this rock. I’d pay to hear her sing the phone book. It makes me smile to know that Tichina is taking her daughter under her wing. Wishing her all the best.”
Alijah Kai certainly understands the gift she has in her ability to sing. Such is the reason why the teen has decided to take things slow and recently announced her plans to step away from social media
“For the past year or so I have been working on my music, which means the absolute world to me, and there’s no doubt that I’ve been promising you guys that music would be coming out soon,” Alijah told her Instagram fans earlier this month. “But ‘soon’ has turned into a full year,” Alijah mused.
“Recently I know that the door between us has been closed and I haven’t really been my full authentic self, in which you guys are use to. So here’s my truth,” Alijah added. “I’ve been very overwhelmed and stressed out because of all the things currently on my plate. From trying to finish my senior year off successfully, becoming a prominent artist, and honestly just finding myself and my voice away from my mom’s. I thought that I could just stick through it and continue to post and give you guys content, but all of this pressure and stress is starting to show in my work/content,” Alijah told her fans.
“So I’ve decided after hours of thinking to take a step back from my socials right now,” the 17-year-old shared. “I know this is new to you, as it is to me, but I think it’ll be best for me to take a step back and really focus on my music and myself. So that I can produce a work of art that I’m proud of as well as something you can connect to. While also giving you my most authentic and true me.”

Alijah Kai did not give an exact date when she planned to return to social media. “But I promise when I do return. I’ll be coming back 20x harder than when I left,” the teen declared. “See you soon!”
