Sister, Sister star Marques Houston and his wife Miya Dickey-Houston have welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Zara.
âMiya chose the name Zara because she just felt like it was exotic. [There was] no special reason,â Houston told Usweekly. âShe just wanted our girl to have a memorable name that wasnât the average name. It still feels surreal, like, it hasnât set in yet that we are actually not just babysitting one of our friendsâ kids. But not getting any sleep definitely reminds us that we are now parents.â
Marques later praised his wife on his Instagram with a throwback photo that showed off her pregnant belly. “Beauty in rare form. A child is such a blessing from Jehovah. A womanâs body is such an amazing creation to be able to carry a full human. I love you Miya, my wife, my rock, my baby mama to watch you carry our child was nothing short of a miracle! Thank you Jehovah for our blessing!”
Houston and Dickey did not announce their pregnancy news prior to their baby girl’s arrival on December 2, 2021. The pair became engaged in 2019 after five months of dating and married in August 2020.
In June 2020, Marques took to his Instagram account to defend their 20-year age difference after rumors hit social media that they began dating when she was underage.
âWith all thatâs going on in the world, my love life shouldnât be a topic,â the singer wrote. âBut since it is, let me just give yâall the facts so you donât have to âallegedlyâ believe or create rumors. ⊠This is not music or television, this is my family, my future wife and my life.â

He added that he started dating Dickey after she became an adult. âWe have [our God] Jehovahâs blessing. So to all the rumors about me, none of it is true! And thatâs the story. No twists, no turns, no scandals, just true love. There is nothing that can come to light, because thereâs no darkness in my life.â
