Christmas is a time for reflection for the adults and presents for the kids in the Stephens household. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen tell PEOPLE exclusively that they do not spend much time exchanging gifts between themselves. The celebrity couple would much rather watch the joy that floods the faces of their son, Miles, and daughter, Luna, on Christmas Day.
“Christmas is all about the kids,” John reveals. “We don’t like to do much for each other because we have birthdays, we have Valentine’s Day, we have our anniversary,” the celebrity father adds.
Although John and Chrissy exchange gifts on Christmas Day, the celebrities make it a point to save the big presents for the kids. The Stephens also donate to various charities throughout the holiday season as a way to give to those who are less fortunate. “We figure we’ll focus on everybody else and then for other occasions we’ll focus on each other,” John tells PEOPLE.
John Legend recently went to great lengths to make Chrissy Teigen’s birthday a time to remember. Chrissy turned 36-years-old on November 30, 2021, and her husband gave her a beautiful bash filled with pink.
“Thank you for all of the birthday wishes,” Chrissy wrote on her Instagram timeline after the festivities concluded. “Thank you to my beautiful family and sickly wonderful husband and beyond remarkable friends who held me up this year,” Teigen added. “Hello 36,” the celebrity mom exclaimed. “You are a weird age!”
Chrissy Teigen has endured heartache beyond measure these past few months as she and John continued to move forward after losing what would have been their third child, Jack, to miscarriage. Teigen has been vocal about her feelings, which has helped other women who have encountered the devastation of miscarriage. Although the cookbook author desires to expand her family in the future, Chrissy has admitted that the likelihood of her carrying another child is not likely.
“Coming to terms with not being able to carry again is still really difficult for me because I feel so healthy,” Chrissy said during an interview earlier this year. “But then I think about it as my uterus is just not cooperating with me — and it’s not a failure,” she added. “I just think of it in terms of how blessed I am already, and also there are so many ways to have a child nowadays … whether it’s surrogacy or adoption.”
