Wayne Brady will co-parent his ex-wife’s newborn son along with her partner. Wayne took to Instagram a few days ago to celebrate his status as a “Duncle” with fans.
“Hey y’all, meet Sunny,” Wayne told his social media fans. “I love this little man already,” the comedian told his social media fans regarding his ex-wife’s newborn. “They say it takes a village to raise a child and they’re right,” Wayne exclaimed.
“The village of @mandietaketa, myself, and @jasonmichaelfordham raised @theofficialmailebrady,” Brady continued. “All children will know is love if that’s what you show them. I’m honored to be in his life as his ‘Duncle’ and I love Mandie and Jason for including me in their journey.”
Wayne Brady’s ex-wife, Mandie Taketa, and her partner shared the backstory of their newest family member last month. “We’ve expanded our blended family,” Mandie told her social media fans. “Welcome birth mom, Ana, and Sundance-Isamu,” the celebrity mom said.
“Our journey started on March 22nd, 2021,” Taketa told her fans. “Ana invited us into her heart and asked us to parent Sunny. We encourage anyone in the process of adoption that you seek the stories of birth mothers and adoptees. Listen to them. Put them first. It’s imperative to understand this is a traumatic experience for them and it’s a privilege to be a part of THEIR lives,” Mandie advised those who are considering adoption.
“Ana, thank you for making me a mommy again along with you,” Mandie wrote to Sunny’s birth mom. “Thank you for blessing Jason with the gift of fatherhood, making Maile a big sister, and Wayne a godfather. He’s going to spoil Sunny like crazy! Huge mahalo for our social media family for the most loving energy in the world. Our hearts are overflowing with love and gratitude.”
Mandie Taketa and Wayne Brady were married for nearly ten years before finalizing their divorce in 2008. The former couple has one child, Maile Masako Brady, who began her freshman year at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) a few weeks ago.
