Tristan Mack Wilds is grateful for his daughter, Tristyn Naomi Wilds, who pulled him out of a dark place. The actor recently revealed his battle with depression and how the birth of his baby girl helped him move forward during an episode of OWN’s They Call Me Dad.
“Honestly, I had been there for a while,” Wilds said of his mental state, which led to suicidal ideation. “I was just letting life take me wherever she may,” the actor shared. “I kind of just started to think people would probably be better off without me being here,” Wilds further explained. “Tristyn was a very big part of the motivation to get pulled out of that dark place. That’s the push I needed to get towards the light.”
Tristan was born on December 11, 2019. She arrived several months before her parents tied the matrimonial knot. Christina Hammond-Wilds doted on her husband during the OWN special. “Mack is an amazing father,” Christina shared. “I can’t even describe it,” Mrs. Wilds continued. “Just seeing how he deals with her and how he interacts with her, it warms my heart.”

Tristan Mack Wilds is definitely the doting dad who would like to pass on a few lessons about life to his daughter as she continues to grow and mature.
“I want to teach my daughter, one, to enjoy who she is,” Wilds said of the values he hopes to instill in his little one. “[I want to teach her] to enjoy her femininity, her Blackness but also understand that you are entitled to everything that the world has to offer just like anybody else,” the celebrity father shared. “No matter gender, color, or anything,” Wilds concluded.
