Kevin Hart’s kids know about his infidelity. The Fatherhood star tells Romper about his rearing practices that include telling his sons and daughters about his cheating scandal.
“You have to talk to your kids about it because it’s going to come out,” Kevin shares. “And some of them are cool about it and some of them are not, depending on the situation,” the celebrity father reveals. “You have to understand the different personalities and manage them correctly.”
Kevin Hart was caught in the middle of a cheating scandal a few years back while his wife, Eniko Hart, was pregnant with their son, Kenzo Hart. Video footage of the comedian kissing another woman leaked to the public, which led to criticism and shame.
“[I] immediately I just lost it,” Eniko revealed when filming for Kevin Hart’s Netflix special, Don’t F— This Up. “I called him, I’m crying, I’m like pissed,” the model continued. “Right then and there, I kept saying, ‘How the f— did you let that happen,'” Eniko asked her husband.
The road to recovery has been challenging for Eniko and Kevin Hart. The celebrities and their children have, nevertheless, made it through the difficult times because of honesty.
“[My kids] understand who their father is,” Kevin tells Romper. “And, unfortunately, there’s a gift and a curse that comes with that,” Hart shares. “The gift is the life that you’re able to live, and the curse is the spotlight that’s on you constantly.”
Kevin Hart is certainly in the spotlight thanks to his new Netflix film, Fatherhood. The movie, based on a single father who goes through the highs and lows of parenthood, is considered a drama with comedic moments in between.
“He said to his kids, ‘You two are in charge of this. Go out there and make sure everybody got their ice cream,'” Fatherhood co-star Alfre Woodard says of the Hart kids’ involvement in the film’s production. “He didn’t say it to the third assistant director,” Woodard explains. “He put them in charge.”
Kevin Hart has two kids, Kenzo and Kaori, with his wife. The celebrity father also has two kids, Heaven and Hendrix, with his first wife, Torrei Hart. Fatherhood comes to the Netflix platform on Friday, June 18, 2021.
