DMX’S KIDS PAY TRIBUTE TO HIM DURING HIS MEMORIAL SERVICE

DMX’s kids paid tribute to the late rapper during Saturday afternoon’s memorial service.

X’s eldest son, Xavier Simmons, was the first to speak on behalf of  his siblings. The 28-year-old began by thanking fans for their support before sharing a moving tribute to his father.

He began, “Thank you to every single soul on this planet who has been with this family. You can never prepare for anything like this.

He continued, “Our father is a king, our father is an icon. I am so honored to have a father like we have. This man deepened my ability to love.”

Xavier also shared that his dad taught him to “always say thank you. No matter where you go a blessing is everywhere. Be kind to everyone.”

Next up was DMX’s son by Yadira Borrego. The 11-year-old, who is an aspiring rapper, said tearfully that his dad “taught me had to make my first song. He was my friend and my dad,” he added. “And now I’m really sad because we have lost an icon and the best father anyone could ask for.”

Soon after, DMX’s daughter, Sonovah, performed an original rap song dedicated to her dad. “I’m growing, I’m learning, to hold my head up. My daddy’s still holding my hand so i gotta get up,” she sang the chorus.

 

DMX died on April 9th, 2021 after suffering from a heart attack.  He was 50 years old.

His family said in a statement, “We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days,” family’s statement read in part. Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end,” the family continued. “He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him.”
