Romany Malco dishes on welcoming a new son during pandemic. Recently Malco sat down with Jimmy Kimmel on his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, to talk about his experience in the delivery room and how it made him immediately want to reach out to his own mother.
“I saw that baby come out of there, I witnessed the nine months of pregnancy…I called my mom, I was like, ‘Mom, thank you.”
Additionally, Malco told the top host of late night television that, “Witnessing the birth and now being the parent, I think actually having the child and looking into the child’s eyes, seeing how the child is dependent on us to make sure that it’s safe, I was just like, ‘Mom, I look at that now and realize I never really knew how much you got from me.”
The 52-year-old A Million Little Things actor shared in an Instagram post in February that having a child later in life, “feels right.”
“Brave is my first biological child. I’m 52 years old and I’ve never been responsible for anything quite as delicate and precious.”
He continued, “Based on my upbringing and psychological disposition, waiting to have a child later in life feels right. I’m already a stepdad of two. Our 11 year old and 17 year old have done an incredible job of preparing me for this moment. They have taught me unconditional love and they’ve rallied for Brave in unexpected ways. Now, seeing my genes expressed in this little man is fascinating to observe.”
The Think Like A Man star finished saying, “I ain’t worried about money. I feel no pressure to change. I’m only concerned with consistently being present, responsible, nurturing, receptive, patient observant, supportive, honest and loving towards my family and the world. Same as always and hopefully improving with time.”
Brave was born January 22, 2021 in the midst of the on-going Coronavirus pandemic.
