Tamar Braxton has learned a few things since stepping away from the spotlight to focus on her mental health. The celebrity mom recently took to Instagram to reflect on her life ahead of her birthday on March 17th.
“I needed this time to not only see that life is worth living but ‘Tamar, who are you living it for,'” Tamar began during an Instagram post that gave fans an update on her mental health. “While I was sick, I thought I wasn’t what this Amazing child needed. I was broken, sad, hurt, felt sorry for myself, and wasn’t attractive to anyone, not even my own kid. Sometimes we put all we have into other relationships.. but what about the relationship that we have with our children?”
Tamar Braxton was rushed to the hospital last May after attempting to commit suicide in a hotel room in Downtown Los Angeles. The recording artist’s then-boyfriend called emergency services for help. Tamar later credited her son, Logan Herbert, as the one who inspired her to fight for her life.
“I’m better than I used to be,” Braxton told her social media fans. “My kid is finally on the way to happy. And I’m happier because of it. I had to put myself second so he can see that sometimes you being first all the time can hold you hostage,” Tamar added.
“I’m just sharing my personal struggles with being a single parent trying to figure it out and find balance,” the celebrity mom continued. “Nothing about life comes with A handbook, but if you pour into your children, eventually with God’s help, it can turn things around. Don’t give up … even when they don’t respond how we want or need them to. God has the whole situation worked out.”
Logan is Tamar Braxton’s son with her ex-husband, Vincent Herbert. He celebrates his eighth birthday in June.
