As a part of the royal family, Akiley Love makes her debut in Coming 2 America.
The talented 12-year-old can be seen in the long-awaited sequel portraying the role of the precocious Princess Tinashe.
“It was really fun doing this movie, walking around seeing all the big actors so casually. It was so much fun seeing all the amazing costumes on set,” Love said in an interview with Ghanaweb.com.
The young rising star went on to say, “It is a hilarious movie and I love watching it and being a part of it. Every single black person who watches it is going walk away feeling good because it shows him or her in a positive way, and it shows that they are really powerful. There is a lot of black excellence on screen.”
Love was raised in the South, hailing from Ghanan roots.
“My grandpa is actually from Ghana so it was really cool growing up and watching them walk around with this heavy accent. I would just sit down next to my grandma while she was on the phone talking in this different language. I had no idea what she would be saying,” Love said in her interview.
“And when my grandpa talks to me I talk back to him in his accent. So I have had so much practice and the fact that I actually got to do that at the auditions was fun. It was fun playing an African princess, and just putting Africa in a positive light and what it really is.”
According to her IMDb bio, in her spare time, the breakout Coming 2 America star loves spending time solving complex math problems, competitive hula hooping, and making people laugh through comedy and storytelling.
She felt the call at the age of 5-years-old to entertain and make people laugh, asking her mother to “put her on Disney Channel so that her friends could see her making people laugh.”
Love spent four months alongside Eddie Murphy in production, adding to her already stellar and diverse range of acting skills.
In addition to acting, Love hosts, writes, produces, and directs her own YouTube show, Do It Yourself Girl, (“DIGY with Akiley”), for the tween retail brand Justice.
We cannot wait to see what is next for this amazing young lady. We have a feeling that we will be seeing a lot more of her in the future!
