BLUE IVY IS THE SECOND YOUNGEST PERSON TO WIN A GRAMMY!

Blue Ivy has won her first Grammy! At just nine years old, she is the second youngest person to win the award(the youngest person in history to be nominated by the recording academy was Leah Peasall of The Peasall Sisters).

On Sunday, The Recording Academy announced that Blue, along with her mom Beyoncé, WizKid, Saint Jhn and the video’s directors and producers, had won Best Music Video for “Brown Skin Girl” at the pre-telecast ceremony of the 63rd GRAMMY Awards.

The Academy wrote, “Congrats Best Music Video winner – ‘BROWN SKIN GIRL’ @Beyonce #BlueIvy @wizkidayo Sparkles #GRAMMYs.”

“Brown Skin Girl,” one of the tracks off of Beyoncé’s Lion King companion album, is Blue’s first songwriting credit and has already earned her a number of awards, including two Soul Train Music Awards, a BET Award and a NAACP Image Award. Ivy Carter is listed as a co-writer of the song alongside Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Wizkid, SAINt JHN and others.

In a statement to Good Morning America about Brown Skin Girl’s accompanying video, Beyoncé said, “It was so important to me in ‘Brown Skin Girl’ that we represented all different shades of brown. We wanted every character to be shot in a regal light … It was important that we are all in this together and we’re all celebrating each other.”

For Beyonce, Sunday’s achievement marked her 25th Grammy win. The singer is  leading with nine R&B and rap nominations and is competing for song of the year and is a double nominee for record of the year.
