Tia Mowry continues to be an advocate for those living with endometriosis. The Family Reunion star took to Instagram on Monday (Mar. 1) to share her experience with the condition.
“Guys, I’m going to get vulnerable for a minute,” Tia told her social media fans. “Did you know that Black women are LESS likely to have their endometriosis diagnosed and MORE likely to be ignored by doctors when we discuss our pain,” the celebrity mom asked.
“After learning about my diagnosis of endometriosis, I was scared,” Tia admitted. “Scared that I would never be able to have kids. The word, infertility, just continued to ring in my ear; I was so focused on that. But, I quickly learned that having endometriosis doesn’t necessarily mean your dream of becoming a mother will not come true.”
Tia Mowry initially shared her battle with endometriosis more than three years ago. The celebrity mom told the press how the condition led to infertility as well as the positive effects of a better nutrition plan. Tia and her husband, Cory Hardrict, welcomed their daughter months after the veteran actress shared her story and a new diet that included less dairy and more vegetables.
“Clearly, after some dietary changes, and focusing on my health and wellness, I was able to make becoming a mother a reality for me,” Mowry shared with her social media followers on Monday. “Not just once, but twice,” the celebrity mom added. “So here’s to all my endo sisters – continue to hope and continue to heal!”
Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict have a daughter named Cairo who celebrates her third birthday in May. The couple’s son, Cree, turns 10-years-old in June.
