NE-YO THOUGHT HE WOULD HAVE TO FORCE HIS KIDS TO APPRECIATE MUSIC

"Not Only Do They Like It, They're Actually Really Good At It"

Ne-Yo thought he would need to force the beauty of music on his son, Mason, and daughter, Madilyn. As it turns out, the producer’s kids migrated to the tunes on their own.

“I was totally prepared to be the parent that forced music on my kids for their own good,” Ne-Yo recently shared while promoting his son’s new single, ‘Nice Guy.’ Mason’s latest music release accompanies his mom’s new children’s book, The Chronicles of Nice Guy Maso, which is a story written with Mason in mind.

“They took to [music] like ducks to water and I couldn’t be more proud,” Ne-Yo said of his kids delving into music appreciation and creation. “Not only do they like it, they’re actually really good at it,” the celebrity father doted. “The mental benefit of having an outlet like music is a blessing in itself. They surprise me every day, I’m proud every day!”

Ne-Yo is the father of four children. The celebrity’s youngest sons, Roman and Schaffer Jr., are with his wife, Crystal Smith, who reconciled with Ne-Yo last year during the coronavirus lockdown.

“What the quarantine did was force us to sit down and get in each other’s face and have those uncomfortable conversations that we couldn’t have before, and the realization that we came to is that we love each other,” Ne-Yo said of his once-troubled marriage during a recent interview with Access Hollywood.

“Nothing is stronger, nothing we can go through, nothing anybody can say or do, can ever be stronger than the fact that we genuinely and truly love each other,” the producer continued. “Once we got to that, we’ve been great ever since.”
