Kandi Burruss’ daughter, Riley Burruss, is finding the transition to college life a bit challenging. The young adult recently sat down with her mom for a ‘Speak On It’ session in which she explained the difficulties she faced during her first semester of college at New York University (NYU).
“Transitioning, first of all, to a different state and then, going to online school,” Riley said when asked to share her thoughts about her life as a young adult living in New York. “Transitioning to college life is already hard but having to do it online is even worse,” Riley revealed.

Kandi Burruss could not fully comprehend why her daughter struggled to adjust to her life as a college student. Most of Riley’s classes were, after all, online.
“[Parents] don’t understand even that normal [phase] when you go from home life to all the way in college in your own space, they already don’t understand that. So then when you have to talk about, ‘Oh, well it’s harder because of Corona. We’re doing everything online.’ And they don’t understand,” Riley said in response to her mom. “So it’s just kind of like, ‘Well, you don’t understand what I’m going through and you’re expecting me to be top tier.'”
One person who struggled to adjust to Riley’s life as a young adult was her little brother, Ace Wells Tucker. The latest episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) showed an emotional Ace who could not hold back the tears once he realized his sister was moving to New York without him. Ace ultimately accepted the change and had loads of fun with his mom during the interview session of the show.
Although she endured challenges this past semester, Riley remains focused on her goals for 2021.
“I want my goals this year to be more abstract,” the young adult shared with her mom during their ‘Speak On It’ session. “So, of course, just be more hard-working, less procrastinating. [I just want to] work hard, work on myself, make myself a better person,” Riley said.
