Ne-Yo and ex-fiancé Monyetta Shaw celebrated their daughter Madilyn Grace’s 10th birthday with a small gathering on Friday.
“We had a great time today safely celebrating Madi’s 10th birthday w/ family & a few of her close friends. Thank you all for coming out. It was great seeing everyone. I appreciate all of the love & well wishes for my Madi Moo,” Monyetta wrote on social media.
Madilyn was born on November 12th after Monyetta underwent emergency C-section. Shaw tells the story in a lengthy Instagram post.
She begins, “As I reflect over the past 10 years of being a mother I feel so much gratitude. I was blessed with such a strong, beautiful, & determined little girl from the very start. I haven’t shared this with my followers but I feel compelled to share as her 10th bday comes to a close. I will post the story in its entirety on my new mommy blog & website coming soon. It is such a long, emotional, & strong story that I am now ready to share. I had pre-eclampsia. Pre-eclampsia usually begins after 20 weeks of pregnancy in a woman whose blood pressure had been normal. It can lead to serious, even fatal, complications for both mother and baby. It was my first time ever even hearing that term so you can imagine how very afraid I was. This lead to the doctors doing emergency C-section immediately. Madilyn was just 32 weeks….”
She continues, “From that night on November 12, 2010, my life was changed forever & would never be the same. I received a gift like no other & I promised that I would be the best mother that I could possibly be as long as I am here and after. I am so full of joy & gratitude as I celebrate 10 beautiful years with my strong Madilyn Grace. Thank you God for choosing me to be the vessel that brought in the amazing Madi that clearly has so much to bring to this world! I love you so very much @masoandmadi Again I can not wait to witness your extreme light!”
Neyo also took to Instagram to send birthday wishes to his only daughter. He wrote, “Growing up so fast…and I HATE IT! Kidding….kinda. My babygirl is becoming a lil lady!” You’re 10 today, big kid swag and elegance shining thru❤️ May today be as magical to you as you are to me babygirl. HAPPY BDAY MADI!!”
Although Shaw and the singer split in 2013, they have happily been co-parenting for some years now. Neyo has two kids with Monyetta Shaw and two kids with his wife Crystal Smith.
