Blue Ivy Carter has quite an impressive resume for an 8-year-old; as she is an award-winning songwriter and has her name trademarked. Now Blue Ivy Carter can add audiobook narrator to her list of accomplishments.
8-year-old Blue Ivy Carter is the eldest daughter of pop icon Beyonce and hip-hop icon Jay-Z, who also have 3-year-old twins Sir and Rumi Carter. Hair Love, by former NFL player Matthew A. Cherry and illustrated by Vashti Harrison, is a bestselling children’s book which was made into an Oscar-winning short film and will also be adapted into a TV series for HBO Max.

Hair Love tells the story of a Black father learning to style his daughter’s hair, so it is only fitting that the audiobook version should be narrated by none other than Blue Ivy Carter, who certainly isn’t afraid to show off her gorgeous locks. Matthew A. Cherry tweeted a sample of Blue Ivy narrating the audiobook along with a link to the full version.
Blue Ivy’s fans were quick to praise her audiobook performance and celebrate her for working on Hair Love as an answer to the haters who used to criticize her hair. One fan tweeted: “BEYONCÉ’S MANAGER IS SHOWING HER HOW IT’S DONE🔥🔥.” Another fan wrote: “Blue Ivy with the Disney princess voice. Love this seeing as though she was bullied about her hair when she was younger 😭😭.”
Blue Ivy Carter’s fans have another reason to celebrate, as Blue Ivy’s audiobook performance also qualifies her for a Grammy Award nomination for Best Spoken Word or Non-musical Album. The 2020 Best Spoken Word Album Grammy award was won by Former First Lady Michelle Obama for her audiobook Becoming. If Blue Ivy were to win, she would be the youngest Grammy winner of all-time (the record is held by LeAnn Rimes, who won a Grammy at 14 in 1997).
