Hair loss due to illness, whether it be cancer, alopecia, or something else is devastating for adults and even more so for children. One young entrepreneur and wig maker is making sure that he gives back and puts a smile on the faces of kids who are suffering from hair loss due to medical reasons.
Seventeen-year-old Trenton Lee has already made luxurious wigs for celebrities such as Tichina Arnold, Cardi B, Blac Chyna and others, making a mark with not only his reputation but company, Luxe by Trenton.
“When I first met @blacchyna back in Feb 2020…She’s such a boss in every way and gives the best advice…,” I’m Lee commented on an Instagram post. “So thankful for her and her opening her arms to help me grow as a hairstylist 💓It was a dream for me to some day work with her…i prayed on it…manifested it…and here we are today ! Any thing is possible ! Believe in your self and chase your dreams ! Can’t wait for y’all to see some more upcoming things we got.”
Having been blessed with celebrity clients and a growing business, Lee now decided that it was time for him to give back.
Lee is partnering with Ronald McDonald House Charities to help create custom wigs for children. He’s also working with the organization to build a salon for children in Kansas City, which is his hometown.
“I had a conversation with my mother and told her that I wanted to be able to do something for my community,” Lee told Essence Magazine in an interview. “While making custom wig units for high profile celebrities is fun and exciting, my real passion lies in helping those who have cancer and lost their hair and working with them…This all started because I was being bullied for being different. I want to expand my business so that I can provide resources to help others who may be experiencing bullying because they look, act, and think differently. So the [pandemic] set back is not stopping any of the projects — I am still designing wigs for clients and [still] finding ways to continue to be inspired!”
What an amazing story and mission. This young man is truly an inspiration. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for him.
