RHOP Monique Samuels wants you to know about her new book called Potty Training “Mommy & Daddy”. The Real Housewives of Potomac star recently spoke with BCK exclusively about the motivation behind her latest publication.
“I was told years ago, before I became a mom, that you can actually start teaching your child how to potty train as soon as they’re able to sit up and are on solid foods just because it’s easier to track,” Monique said of her inspiration to potty train her kids – Chase, Milani, and Christopher – at just six months. “I did it with all three of my kids, it worked,” the RHOP star said. “It’s like they know. My kids, they don’t sit on the toilet for hours. They use it when they have to go and then they handle their business and they’re done.”
The concept of potty training early has led to more than Monique’s kids learning how to use the restroom before hitting toddler years. “when I started potty training my kids when they were 6-months-old, right when they were sitting up, even though I was teaching them to use the potty and that they had an outlet for removing waste without sitting in it, I didn’t realize how much it helped with my communication with them and even understanding their cues for everything else,” Monique said.
“I think they feel a sense of relief because, naturally, who wants to sit in mess,” Samuels asked. “Even babies, as soon as you pull that diaper off, they’re relieving themselves because they’re like, ‘Oh, good! I don’t have anything on me. Let me get this out.’ And the thing about diapers is that they’re so absorbent that most times when [babies] do go on themselves, they don’t even feel it. So how do they know that ‘Okay, this isn’t right,’ outside of the poops, obviously?”
Monique Samuels’ book, Potty Training “Mommy & Daddy”, aims to teach parents how to avoid the frustrations of potty training that come when moms and dads program their children to relieve waste in diapers only to teach their little ones the proper way of using the restroom.
