As the old adage goes, when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, and that is exactly what 11-year-old Brooklyn-native Alyssa Cheatham has done in the face of Nickelodeon pulling her new series, Made By Maddie.
The talented preteen eloquently commented on Instagram, “…I know a lot of people are upset that Made By Maddie may not ever air. Trust me, I understand but please don’t be, though. It was a dream of mine to star in an animation as a beautiful and vibrant black girl and help the world see how beautiful black really is. Everything happens for a reason, at least that’s what I believe. I don’t know what will happen from here but I also cannot spend my energy on trying to figure out things I do not have control over. Let’s just focus on what we can do, to continue to inspire and uplift one another. I appreciate you and love you all. 💕”
Recently, the young star spoke to News 12 who reached out for a statement regarding her thoughts on the show being pulled.
“I just thought, I understand why the show has to be put on hold, but I just want to tell everyone that no matter what, I’m so grateful and so blessed to even have this opportunity, to inspire and make so many people happy,” she told the news outlet.

Yet, the 11-year-old actress isn’t letting the grass grow under her feet as she is gearing up for her next Nick Jr. series, Santiago of the Seas where Cheatham voices a young pirate who can turn into a mermaid. The series is set to premiere on October 9th.
