Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, along with his wife and kids, battled COVID-19 together as a family, and now they have all recovered well.
On September 2, the former WWE Superstar and actor took to Instagram to announce that he, along with his wife Lauren Hashian and their two children, 4-year-old Jasmine and 2-year-old Tiana Johnson, all tested positive for coronavirus about three weeks ago.
“I wanted to give you guys a little helpful update on some of the things I have been going through on my end for the past two-and-a-half to three weeks now. So the update is this: my wife Lauren as well as my two baby girls and myself, we have all tested positive for COVID-19,” said Johnson in the video. “I can tell you that this has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure as a family,” he continued. “And for me personally, too, as well, and I’ve gone through some doozies in the past.”
Dwayne Johnson explained that he and his family contracted COVID-19 from “very close family friends” who were “devastated” that they unwittingly infected his family, but “luckily we were able to control it and mitigate it, and it didn’t spread out of control,” said Johnson.
COVID-19 can be particularly dangerous to young children, but fortunately for Dwayne Johnson’s daughters, they “bounced back” rather quickly. “So for our babies, Jazzy and Tia, they had a little sore throat the first couple of days, but other than that, they bounced back and it’s been life as normal; happy babies running around and playing,” said Johnson. On the other hand, he and Lauren “had a rough go” with coronavirus, “but we got through it,” says Johnson. “We got through it as a family.”
Dwayne Johnson is grateful that he and his family recovered from COVID-19 and says his family is now healthier than ever. “I am happy to tell you guys that we as a family are good. We are on the other end of it, we’re on the other side,” says Johnson. “We’re no longer contagious, and we are — thank God — we are healthy. And we’ve gotten through COVID-19 stronger and healthier.”
Dwayne Johnson encouraged others to take caution “and apply discipline” when meeting with others to prevent spreading coronavirus and suggested having visitors tested for coronavirus before meeting with them. He also stressed the importance of wearing facemasks to guard against coronavirus, saying: “It has nothing to do with politics. Wear your mask. It is a fact, and it is the right thing to do. And it’s the responsible thing to do.”
Dwayne Johnson captioned the video: “My message to all of you around the 🌎. Stay disciplined. Boost your immune system. Commit to wellness. Wear your mask. Protect your family. Be strict about having people over your house or gatherings. Stay positive. And care for your fellow human beings. Stay healthy, my friends. DJ 🖤.”
