Monica shared shocking news during a recent episode of T.I. and Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle. The celebrity mom told her good friends, Toya Johnson and LeToya Luckett, that her son Rodney “Rocko” Jr., who turned 15-year-old last week, suffered a seizure.
“Rocko was supposed to go on a five-day school trip, but he decided that he’d stay home with me,” Monica said during the episode’s reflection segment. “Thank god because when we were together, I looked up at him and I could tell something was happening.”
Monica went on to tell Toya and LeToya that her son “lifted his arm like he was going to stretch and boom! [He fell] flat on his face. He hit the corner of the bed [and] then he hit the floor. To see your child have a seizure, he’s never had no (sic) seizure before.”
It was just last week that Monica took to Instagram to wish her oldest son well wishes on his birthday. “SON … 15 Years Old… HOW,” Monica asked in her sweet message to Rocko. “Happy Birthday, @rockohill,” she continued. “I am so proud of the young man you’ve become! You were the My New Beginning, the creator of My New Life … May 21st I decided to be a better me for YOU … It was love at first sight.”
Monica is passionate about all three of her kids, which is why Rodney’s seizure was devastating. “When your child is standing there one minute having a regular conversation with you, and then he’s flat on his face shaking. I’m talking about like when you take a fish out of water, that’s how my child’s whole body was,” the celebrity mom told her friends on T.I. and Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle.
“Everyone else in the room was like [panicking]. And I’m like, ‘Call 911!'” I’m thinking, ‘I may not see my child, for real, anymore.’ What if I had sent him on that trip? If I had sent him on that trip, and they called me talking about my child [while he was] four hours away, and something happened to him … I’m not complete without them.”
Monica has two sons, Romelo and Rodney Jr., and a daughter named Laiyah. You can catch the celebrity mom and her family on T.I. and Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle, which airs every week on VH1.
