Seventeen-year-old native-Californian Olivia Ximines definitely has what it takes to become a mega star and she is proving it on season 18 of American Idol. If you remember, the talented high school student brought her entire dance crew to help her perform for the judges during her audition where she sung “Language” by Tori Kelly. Well, fast-forward and Ximines is one of the 20 finalists for season 18!
“Ever since Olivia was two-years-old, she has been an entertainer,” said Olivia’s mother in an interview. “We didn’t need the television once Olivia was in the house. Everybody knew her as a performer. When Olivia sings, I sometimes cry. Just to look at her and know, that’s my child!”
During the season, we have seen Ximines belt out her own renditions of hits such as “All I Ask” by Adele and “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner. Idol judge Lionel Richie commented on Ximinies’ “Proud Mary” performance, giving her nothing but praise. And of course, this was the one that lead to the most exiting news of the night-she had clinched a spot in the top 20.

Until her assent into the top 20, Ximinies hasn’t let on to her classmates that she was participating on the show as to not jinx herself. Now, she’s a campus sensation. “This moment is huge to me right now,” Olivia stated. “I’m so happy that I have my family to support me.”
