Actress La La Anthony is quarantined with her estranged husband, NBA star Carmelo Anthony of the Portland Trail Blazers, along with her whole family amidst the ever-present COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, and she and their 13-year-old son Kiyan are happy with it.
In an April 13 interview with Access Hollywood, La La Anthony explained how she moved from New York City to Los Angeles, California as coronavirus cases in New York started increasing and brought her family with her to quarantine in her Los Angeles home. “I’m on the west coast. I have a bunch of my family with me. My son obviously is here. I was in New York and I just felt it was time to get out of New York. I was like; this is not the place to quarantine at anymore. It’s time to go,” said La La. “I grabbed some of my nieces, family members, Kiyan, and we came out West and we’re just quarantining now together. Melo is…yeah, he’s here somewhere. He’s even here. He’s here somewhere.”
When asked about how it was being quarantined with Carmelo Anthony, La La said that it was going well and that Kiyan was especially happy about it. “It’s actually been smooth sailing,” says La La. “And you know, to see my son so happy even in the midst of what’s going on in the world to me is what’s important and what matters to me so I feel really great about that.”
La La and Carmelo Anthony have been co-parenting their son while under quarantine, though La La admits that she has had some difficulty home-schooling her seventh-grade son Kiyan as he takes online classes. La La shared that she had to resort to “googling math problems” for help with Kiyan’s lessons. La La made it known that she was grateful for the resources to help her with Kiyan’s courses, saying: “The work at 13, seventh grade is no joke.”
