Shaquille “Shaq” O’Neal first began to make a name for himself at LSU, where he was a two-time All American. Afterwards, he was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft and went on to become one of the greatest NBA players in history. With his 7’1″, 320 pound hulking physique, Shaq would completely overwhelm his opponents with his size, strength and skill.
During his legendary career, Shaq won three straight NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers alongside the late NBA great Kobe Bryant, and won another NBA title on the Miami Heat with retired NBA star Dwyane Wade. Shaq also won the NBA MVP (Most Valuable Player) award in 2000, three NBA Finals MVP awards with the Lakers, and was a 15-time NBA All-Star. In 2016, Shaq was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame.
Now Shaq is providing a close look into his life away from basketball in his new documentary series (docuseries) Shaq Life. Produced by Steve Michaels and Jodi Flynn of The Content Group and narrated by legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson, Shaq Life chronicles Shaq’s lifestyle and his passions off the court as he seeks to become “the ultimate father, athlete, DJ and businessman.” The docuseries will feature Shaq touring as a DJ and training with professional fighters for his first MMA (mixed martial arts) match; all while raising his six children. Each episode of Shaq Life will be preceded by ‘ShaqNight!’ a programming block where Shaq watches his favorite movies with some of his famous friends and provides commentary.
“I can’t wait for viewers to join me on Thursday nights,” says Shaq. “I hope ‘ShaqNight!’ will deliver laughs, fun, and entertainment into people’s homes at a time when we need it most.” Shaq Life is set to premiere on April 9 at 9 p.m. ET/ PT on TNT.
