Eddie Murphy’s ex-wife, Nicole Murphy, is a fit mama and grandma! On an episode of Body of Work on BET’s YouTube Channel, Nicole talks about her fitness journey, how she motivates her kids, and how being a grandmother motivates her to stay active.
“I am a mother and I am new grandmother. My fitness journey is quite interesting. Of course i have five children. I would say the first two children that i had, i did not take fitness seriously. I had the baby and went back into shape, I was fine. But then i starting noticing the little changes in my body. My body wasn’t as firm, the muscles were a little soft…i didn’t like that feeling,” she shares.

After her third child, Murphy decided to hit the gym.
“I think genetics plays quite a bit in how your body reacts to certain things. I am tall. I’m 5’10. So even when i was pregnant, i didn’t look pregnant. I just had a little ball in front of me and pregnancy was so easy for me. I had no issues. I did it five times. I could have done it ten times easily and that’s just me. That’s just my genetics; i was blessed in that way, but it still takes a toll on your body.”
Nicole, who has four daughters and one son with Eddie Murphy, says she tries to motivate her girls to take better care of their bodies.
“I try to tell my girls(i have four daughters),’Listen, your body is beautiful, but you got to hit the gym eventually, you got to stay on it and start eating correctly because it will catch up to you'”
As for being a grandma at 52, she says, “I think that’s pretty cool that i don’t look like the average grandma. I do. That’s why i think fitness is so important because i want to stay healthy, i want to be able to run with my grandbaby now and don’t be out of breath trying to chase her.”
