Kobe Bryant’s oldest daughter, Natalia Bryant, is at the center of a death hoax meant to capitalize on the deaths of Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant. The fraudulent reports went viral, thanks to fake BBC News logos.
The hoax portrayed Natalia as one who committed suicide after hearing of her father and sister’s death. A screenshot with the words, “R.I.P. Natalia Bryant” gained even more stamina because of the attribution to BBC News as the reporting source. The video also featured a reporter from a news segment that had nothing to do with Kobe and Gianna Bryant’s death. “The shock is still raw for fans of the late,” the reporter said before the segment cut out.
Some were taken by shock at the news of Natalia’s alleged death. Many, however, knew that the story was a complete hoax. After all, trolls looking to capitalize on the deaths of Kobe and Gianna Bryant claimed that Vanessa Bryant committed suicide just days after the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of nine people.
Kobe, Gianna, and the seven other passengers on the helicopter were en route to the Mamba Sports Academy on Sunday, January 26, 2020, when the aircraft hit a hillside in Calabasas. Many, including Shaquille O’Neal, initially believed the crash was a hoax. Grief began to set in, however, as the details surrounding the accident began to unfold throughout the day.
Kobe Bryant played for the Los Angeles Lakers for 20 years before retiring in 2016. Gianna had dreams of carrying on his legacy. Natalia Bryant is the oldest of Kobe and Vanessa Bryant’s four kids. Stay tuned for more Kobe Bryant tribute news.
