Kel Mitchell loves being a #girldad. The celebrity father joined the mass of dads across the United States who take extra pride in parenting girls.
“Girl dad,” Kel hashtagged in an Instagram post that shed light on his daughters, Allure and Wisdom. “Proud dad,” Mitchell continued. ” Love you Wisdom and @alluremariah,” the celebrity father said.
Dozens of fathers have reflected in their lives as dads of daughters since the tragic death of Kobe Bryant last Sunday (January 26). Elle Duncan of ESPN reflected on her meeting with Kobe Bryant in which the celebrity father celebrated his life as the father of girls.
“I asked if he wanted more children,” Elle told viewers during a tribute segment of SportsCenter. “He said that his wife, Vanessa, really wanted to try again for a boy but was sort of jokingly concerned that it would be another girl.”
Kobe and his wife, Vanessa Bryant, had three daughters – Natalia, Gianna, and Bianka – at the time. Elle Duncan asked the NBA star how he would feel about having four girls. “Without hesitation, he said, ‘I would have five more girls if I could. I’m a girl dad.'”
Kel Mitchell joined others in sending condolences to Vanessa Bryant and the girls after learning of Kobe and Gianna Bryant’s tragic death. “I was at church this morning when I heard the shocking news,” Kel said. “We all immediately started praying for the Bryant family,” the celebrity father exclaimed. “Kobe empowered and inspired so many of us!”
