Thomas Rhett was joined by his wife, Lauren Rhett, and daughters, Willa Gray and Ada James, at this year’s County Music Awards (CMA). The event was the first in which the celebrity parents brought their kids into the spotlight.
“My two little girls are going to walk the red carpet with me and Lauren,” Thomas told the press prior to the CMA Awards ceremony. “We’ve never done that before,” he added. “But they already wear princess dresses every day anyway so this is going to be just another extension of their life.”
Thomas and Lauren Rhett finalized the adoption process for their oldest daughter, Willa Gray, just months before welcoming their youngest daughter, Ada James. The couple was doubly surprised by the family’s exponential expansion since Lauren and Thomas previously struggled with fertility issues that cast doubt on the idea of natural conception.
Now, Thomas and Lauren are expecting their third child together. Lauren showcased her bump at this year’s CMAs ceremony.
“I just love being here, getting to see my friends, and getting to see Reba onstage,” Thomas told the press. “It’s just going to be absolutely incredible,” he said of the ceremony.
Thomas Rhett received two nominations for Male Vocalist of the Year as well as for Album of the Year for his album, Center Point Road (2019). “It’s a humbling experience to be honored by the CMAs for any award,” the recording artist said. “This year, to be in the Male Vocalist category and the Album [category] is really special,” Thomas added.
“I think what it does for us – especially me and the band and the people who worked on our record – is it really kind of just shows you that your hard work paid off a little bit and that all the hours of writing that you spent making the record and all the shows that you played, the CMAs recognized you as one of the people that did it well this year.”
