It was a Wizard of Oz sort of weekend as Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade gave their baby girl, Kaavia James, a birthday party inspired by the feature film, The Wiz. Shady Baby was definitely in the zone at her birthday bash.
Gabrielle and Dwyane gave their daughter a yellow brick road of her own along with a cake reminiscent of Dorothy’s Ruby slippers. A live band performed tunes from the classic film, which further reminded guests of the type of party they were attending. Did we mention that Shady Baby was dressed as Dorothy for a short time during her party? The moment didn’t last long!
Kaavia James Union Wade rang in her first birthday last week. The little one’s mother took to Instagram with a beautiful message on her daughter’s special day.
“Scared to hold you. Scared to burp you. Scared to reveal I have no clue what I’m doing,” Gabrielle wrote online. “Scared to go to work. Scared to stay home. Scared when you sleep. Scared when you wake up. Scared I’m not living up to some impossible standard of motherhood,” the celebrity mom continued.
“But there you were, every day, looking up at me, like ‘gurl,’ you got this,” Union explained. “When I let go of my fears of judgment and just did my best and recognized that my best would and could change from day to day and life would magically go on.”
“Man, I finally allowed myself to just enjoy you and relax into the peace of imperfection. One year in and your whole village stays smiling. The family you know and all the cyber aunties and uncles you may never meet, we celebrate you.”
